Z is for Zaraisa’s journey

araisa, a beautiful proud Siamese Lady, roaming the world with her little daughter in tow.

Many characters have lived inside of my head for so long did I have forgotten how did they come into existence. This is the case of the lady Zaraisa. I still remember clearly that I created her as I wanted to write about the background story of Gizma, my main character.
Little by little I came to know about them. I met Gizma first, as an apprentice of Sir Giacomo.
Later, she told me about her life at the orphanage. But it wasn’t until we became better acquainted that she told me the secrets of her past. Secrets that in fact belong to her mother, Zaraisa.

The Lady Zaraisa by Anené Dies Irae

She was born at a noble family. Her father, a nobleman who came rich by trading fish from Navelport, the main city, to the rest of the continent. Her father gave her and her siblings the noble education a fine youth should receive.
Zaraisa had three older sisters and a twin brother. She was raised to be a nobleman’s wife Odell she prefer to escape and play with her twin brother. Many a days she was punished to behave as a little tomboy, until her mother, sisters and governess took a more active role in her education.
Alas, she fell in love with a rascal and eloped.
The way she brought up Gizma in her first years, developed her attitude towards life.
But tragedy followed of them, and they had to separate.

What happened to her after they departed? no one knows. Many suspect that she was truly arrested by the Inquisition and judged as an heretic and therefore, executed.
Some others supposed that her family, worried about public shame if they ever found out that they were related, paid a huge amount of money for her to be executed secretly inside the prisons or to be kept there locked for the rest of her life.
A similar theory, that her family locked her as an anchorite in a monastery, with all the commodities of a well brought nun, but locked from the world in eternal repentance of her sins.
There are also rumors that she escaped from prison. Doubtful, for a feat like that would be a great scandal to the reputation of Inquisition and the news would have spread like fire. The Story goes on, claiming that she roams the world as a thief and a pirate, searching for her daughter and the fate of her loved husband.
If the last theory were true, what would she do roaming the world when she knew that her child might have ended at an orphanage inside the country of Akasha?
maybe one day I’ll be lucky enough to find her and know more about her journey; or at least, to find someone who could give me real information about her fate.
So far I’ll be hoping that she be safe.

With all regards to all my readers,

  1. Hannie,

Thanks for dropping in for a visit on Wednesday or maybe it was yesterday. I’m afraid I have my days are mixed up. I really can’t imagine why, can you? 🙂 I’m glad you have a list of your A2Z posts here even if they are not completed yet, so I will bookmark this page to return to it from time to time to see if it’s updated. Meanwhile, I need to go back to catch the posts that I failed at getting around to last month. The blogfest had me spinning in circles as you probably can relate very well, too. Lady Zarisa is lovely. I would like to try to sketch her some time. 🙂 Thanks for the share, my friend!
