Unicorn: Old French, unicorne. Latin, unicornis. Literally, one-horned: unus, one and cornu, a horn. A fabulous animal resembling a horse with one horn.
Peter S. Beagle (The Last Unicorn)
Humbly approaching you
Lady of the Unicorn,
Lovely but aloof.
Daydreaming, longing
for a touch, or a mere stare.
Enamored with you.
But you turn around
and disappear. Are you mythical?
Was this just a dream?
This is my Spanish haiku counterpart: U de Unicornio. Why, do you ask? My wonderful crew, #NaNoTribuMX started a micro stories challenge in Spanish this month. (We´re still voting the words we will use this month).
The team’s theme of the April Blogging from A to Z Challenge this year is:
ACCOMPLISHING YOUR DREAMS, AND THE DUALITY OF 22; to see all cool bloggers participating this challenge, you can click on the Master List of #AtoZChallenge.
Senryu 21 of 26 I´ll be doing this April to participate in #AtoZChallenge, #NaPoWriMo and #CampNaNoWriMo. Did you like it? Don´t be shy, leave a comment. I´d love if you add a blog hop so I can visit your post, too.
If you are participating on these challenges, I wish you good luck and lots of success. 😀

This invoked interesting mental pictures this tale presented as I read. Is the Lady of the Unicorn a unicorn herself or just a being who holds the reigns of this mythical creature?
she who holds the reins
of a mythical creature
dwells only in dreams.

Awww, that was a beautiful haiku too, I’m in awe. Thanks a lot for the response, I’d love to think the Lady of the Unicorn as a unicorn goddess, just like the Egyptian ones. 💖

I was reading the opening and thinking of the butterfly in the Last Unicorn, and then that’s what the quote was! 🦋🦄
